History of the Nomad Games

Tracing the lineage of pastoral nomadic civilizations and the resurrection of their ancestral traditions on the global stage.

The Genesis of the Games

The concept of the World Nomad Games was initiated by the government of Kyrgyzstan in 2012 to celebrate the nomadic heritage of the Central Asian nations. The goal was to preserve and showcase pastoral nomadic civilizational heritage, preventing these ancient martial and cultural arts from fading into obscurity in the modern era.
Unlike standard athletic competitions, the games were founded on ethno-cultural preservation, aiming to bridge the gap between historical combat disciplines and modern sportsmanship.

Cultural Events & Traditions

Beyond the athletic arenas, the games unfold inside an extensive yurt village encampment where epic folklore, craft technologies, and sonic expressions are actively shared.
