Traditional Archery

Witness the specialized mechanics of traditional composite horn bows and historical shooting positions that governed ancient battlefield layouts across centuries.

The Asiatic Mastery

Observe the mastery of historic Asiatic archery traditions. Contestants from numerous global backgrounds gather to showcase distinct regional styles, mechanical configurations, and traditional garments.

Unlike modern Olympic archery, the traditional disciplines rely completely on instinctual aiming, utilizing bows constructed from organic materials without the aid of sights, stabilizers, or mechanical releases.

Archery Disciplines

The events are broken down into specific challenges that test distance, accuracy, and dynamic movement, replicating the varied skills required by steppe warriors.

Traditional Target

Archers compete at various distances using specialized thumb-draw techniques. Targets often include historically accurate setups like the "Jamba," a silver disc or specialized leather bags.

Flight Archery

A pure test of bow mechanics and physical power. Contestants use specialized, highly stressed flight bows and aerodynamic arrows to achieve maximum possible distance over open terrain.

3D & Dynamic Courses

Shooters navigate a rugged course, firing at three-dimensional targets representing varied game, requiring rapid stance adjustments and immediate range estimation.

Equipment & Mechanics

The soul of traditional archery lies in the composite horn bow. Crafted over months, or even years, these bows are complex laminations of wood, animal horn, and sinew, bound together with natural hide glues.

Equally important is the thumb ring (often called a zihgir). Crafted from bone, horn, or metal, it protects the archer's thumb under the immense draw weights of the composite bows and provides a uniquely crisp release crucial for traditional accuracy.
