The Way of the Bow
Training Philosophy
“Archery is not a sport of strength, but a dance of discipline and internal silence.”
The Arrow is a Mirror
At the Bogenschiessen-Akademie-Tux, we believe archery is more than just a sport; it is a dialogue between the mind, the body, and nature. We strip away the gadgets to rediscover the primal intuition within every archer.
A Message from Jan Franko
“I didn’t start the Bogenschiessen-Akademie-Tux just to teach people how to hit a target. I started it because, in our fast-paced world, the bow is one of the few things that demands your absolute presence.”
When you stand in the Tuxertal forest, bow in hand, the noise of the world fades. There is only you, the wind, and the path to the center. I invite you to join me in this silence.
— Jan Franko, Founder
The Pillars of Our Instruction
1. Instinctive Precision
Trust your subconscious. We focus on the target, not the equipment, allowing your brain to calculate distance naturally.
2. Meditative Breath
Every shot begins with the breath. We reach "Relaxed Alertness"—a state where the mind is still and the body is calm.
3. Alpine Harmony
Training in the Tuxertal mountains teaches us adaptability, balance, and a deep respect for the environment.
4. Form Over Results
A bullseye with poor form is a fluke. We prioritize a repeatable, healthy shooting frame for lifelong mastery.
What to Expect in Our Sessions
The Foundation
Mastering the stance and the "T-Frame" to protect your joints and maximize power.
The Anchor
Finding your unique, consistent point of reference to ensure every draw is identical.
The Zen of Release
Transitioning from mechanical steps to a single, fluid motion—the "Zen" of the release.
Pure Materials, Pure Focus
We advocate for the Traditional Bow. No sights, no pulleys—just the connection between wood and soul.
The Wood
We celebrate the natural flex and character of organic materials. Every bow has a unique personality that you must learn to listen to.
The String
Learning to "feel" the tension without let-off cams. We teach you to hold the weight of your intention in your own fingertips.
The Arrow
We prefer heavy carbon or traditional wood for a stable, predictable flight that mimics the arrows of our ancestors.
