Grand Moravia – Podhájska

Traditional Archery Gathering & Tournament

In the lands of ancient Nitra, where the memory of Great Moravia still lives, archers gather to meet in tradition, discipline, and respect for the old ways.

Field Note

This gathering is not only a tournament. It is a meeting of people who follow the path of traditional archery — a path that connects craft, history, discipline, and respect for nature.

In the region once ruled by the princes of Great Moravia, we meet not as competitors alone, but as participants in a living tradition.

The Land of Nitra

The Nitra region belongs to the oldest cultural landscapes of Central Europe. Long before modern borders, this land formed the heart of Great Moravia, one of the first known Slavic states.

Forests, rivers, and open fields created a natural environment where warriors, hunters, and craftsmen lived in close connection with the land.

Today, this same landscape welcomes archers from many countries,

continuing a tradition that reaches far into the past.

The Forest Landscape

The event takes place in natural terrain near Podhájska, where forest paths, open meadows, and uneven ground create a setting close to historical hunting environments. Targets are placed in varied distances and angles, requiring concentration, patience, and respect for the bow.

Traditional archery belongs to nature, and the course reflects that principle.

The arrow does not seek the target, it simply finds its way when the mind is no longer in the way. Discipline is not a restriction, but the architecture of freedom.
