Inside this small sanctuary, survival depends entirely on maintaining a strict daily routine and keeping gear organized. Every chore, from cutting firewood and melting snow for drinking water to maintaining the limbs of your bow, must be executed with methodical precision. In the extreme cold, any moment of neglect or laziness can lead to equipment failure, frostbite, or carbon monoxide buildup from a poorly managed stove.
Beyond simple survival, the outpost serves as a workshop where traditional archery equipment is protected and maintained. This phase covers the selection of dry standing wood, the safe use of axes and saws in freezing conditions, and the art of stove management. You will master the adjustment of stove dampers to control airflow, ensuring a slow, steady burn that keeps the shelter warm throughout the night without wasting precious fuel.
Drying and Maintenance
Moisture is a silent threat in the sub-arctic; wet clothing or equipment will freeze solid almost instantly when exposed to the outdoor air. The warm interior of the outpost is where you must meticulously dry your clothing layers and sleep systems. It is also a dedicated workspace for inspecting your archery gear.
