Defining the Flight Bow
The Ottoman flight bow is an uncompromising feat of engineering. Much shorter and thicker than target bows, its highly reflexed limbs are designed strictly to store maximum energy and impart it instantly to extremely lightweight arrows. This rapid energy transfer is key to overcoming aerodynamic drag.

Flight arrows are meticulously crafted from lightweight pine, tapered perfectly in a barrel shape to reduce paradox and drag. The tiny, low-profile fletchings are made from parchment to cut through the air with minimal friction.
The Siper
To draw a 24-inch arrow back to 28 inches or more, archers use a tortoise-shell or horn groove strapped to the bow hand. This ‘siper’ acts as a shelf, allowing the arrow point to come well inside the bow’s belly, drastically increasing power stroke.
